(More customer reviews)If you're a smoker and are interested in exploring the possibility of rolling your own (RYO) smokes, the Premier Excel is certainly a good place to start.
Like most people, I started experimenting with RYO cigs using a hand injector that utilizes a slide or gun-cocking motion to fill empty cigarette tubes with tobacco.This method is good for a beginner or those looking to just experiment with RYO. However, after awhile this method becomes tedious if not a hassle especially if you smoke more than just a few cigarettes a day.
With that being the case, I decided to ask for this product for Xmas and received it early!
So far, after making a pack or so of cigs, I have to say that I really am impressed.The machine is efficient and smooth so long as you follow the directions enclosed.
One thing you should know, though, is that this machine certainly isn't suitable to carry around like the smaller hand injectors and other small rolling machines.I know (from reading other reviews on other sites) that some people do travel with this machine on longer trips, but it's just not really a feasible to take this along with you daily to work or for a night out on the town.
The good news is that it was never intended to be a carry-along machine.Instead, it's intended to be a solid, well-built machine that'll have you making a pack or two of cigs in just a few minutes.In the time it takes me to SMOKE one cigarette, I can make at least 12-15 more.Once you get the hang of it, you can do it without really even looking.So the idea of sitting in front of the boob-tube (a daily routine for many of us less health-minded folks) and making enough cigs to last until the next day is more than reasonable.
As far as the cigarettes it produces, I have to say that they are pretty much right on par with any major brand of pre-made cigarettes.Of course, the tobacco you use is up to you (and there are lots of choices out there), but in terms of filling the cigarette evenly and not under or overpacking the cigarette, this machine does a stellar job if you're using it correctly.You may have a bit of tobacco sticking out of the end of your cigarettes, but I can't personally find a real problem with this since it's usually remedied by tapping the filter end against something solid a couple of times (packing)or simply removing it with your fingers.
The only reason I'm giving this machine 4 stars instead of 5 is because I just started using it.In other words, I don't know for sure that the machine will last or to what degree it will require maintenance like every other machine in the world (whether it's a cigarette injector or a Buick).The good news, on that front, is that the machine comes with reasonably detailed diagrams that illustrate the machine's parts and how the machine is assembled.The machine also comes with a 1-year warranty that you can enact by sending in some information.
Whatever your motivation to start rolling your own cigarettes (the high price of pre-made smokes usually being number 1 on that list), the Premier Excel is a good place to start for anyone looking to buy their first real table-top cigarette injector.
